We are excited to announce that Sam Collett has joined the Promus Ventures investment team.
Sam was a previous summer intern at Promus Ventures, and we're happy to have him back. Back then he worked across portfolio management and deal sourcing, and his pull toward AI, DeepTech, and early-stage company building was hard to miss. He strengthens the investment team in one of our core focus areas (AI), and he'll also help build out the firm's AI platform. Sam graduated from Northwestern University with a degree in Economics.
Here's Sam, in his own words, on joining Promus Ventures again:
After Northwestern, I joined WTW to support the investment process for their ~$190B AUM delegated client base. My role spanned credit manager research and portfolio management, running due diligence on new investable ideas while actively managing pension, 401(k), and other bespoke client portfolios.
I also sat in several internal groups, pitching new investment ideas and applying AI solutions to eliminate redundancies.
I was fortunate to participate in end-to-end investment lifecycles at WTW, from initiating new ideas to implementing positions in portfolios. I am excited to continue this process in a new environment, stretching my learning as Promus Ventures partners with the most forward-thinking founders and startups of our age.
In addition, I’ve always had a passion for building, whether scaling ministry groups or growing my band’s listening base. This passion to go from zero to one fundamentally aligns with this role (as every good VC purports to do).
I’ve had the privilege of previously interning at Promus Ventures and was struck by the focus on finding world-class founders. The firm has an exceptional track record of partnering with top founding teams, and I am eager to contribute to identifying the next generation of the firm's visionary portfolio companies.
The AI-forward approach also drew me back. I am now tasked with not only investing in AI startups, but also helping build agents and adapting unique AI use cases from portfolio companies to automate internal processes. I am excited to further develop ongoing work reducing inefficiencies to free up capacity for the work that matters most.
I got married last December and have loved settling into our Chicago apartment with my wife, Katherine. I write and produce my own music, and I'm working toward recording and releasing an album in the near future.
In the remaining time, I read philosophy, appreciate specialty coffee, golf with my brothers, run, cook, and collect vinyl.
